The Legend of the Birthday Day Tree       $15.00

"Every time a child is born a tree shall be planted."

A beautiful idea that is bound to become an enduring tradition.

The Legend of the Birthing Day Tree is an attractively illustrated four color keepsake book printed on recycled paper. The story tells of a green and beautiful kingdom that is loved too well and must discover a way to restore its natural grandeur for future generations. The story suggests that our land today may benefit from the tradition of planting a tree when a child is born.

In addition to the story and color illustrations, this book also contains:

  • A powerful and moving pledge from the parents to their child. Signed by the parents, this pledge emphasizes the importance of sharing the beauties, understanding the ways, and treating gently our earth.
  • A listing of recommended trees for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
  • Extensive directions to insure the proper planting of a tree.
  • Photo pages to record the growth of the child and the tree. With loving detailed drawings and 13 color illustrations the book is bound in 80# recycled cover stock with a spiral binder. An illustrated gift box enhances this popular gift for newborns.

Mountain Moon Ghost Stories       $9.50

West Virginia is a marvelous treasure trove of stories. People from many countries in Europe came or were brought to West Virginia to work in the coal mines. They couldn't bring much in the way of material goods, but they brought with them their stories. Added to this were the many adventures that befell them in a strange and often violent land. Dr. Ruth Ann Musick carefully collected these stories through the West Virginia oral tradition and published these stories in The Telltale Lilac Bush, Green Hills Of Magic and Coffin Hollow. With the kind permission of the University Press of Kentucky and Judy Prozzillo Byers, folklore executrix of the Ruth Ann Musick estate, Fairmont State College, we have interpreted these stories and hope they will begin an awareness of West Virginia's rich oral legacy.
